

Meet Dr. Shaun-Adrian Chofla
Dr. Shaun-Adrián Choflá is an MFT Trainee and Professor of Lifespan Development. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Development, a Master of Arts in Human Development, a Doctorate in Education, and is completing a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. His clinical training in Marriage and Family Therapy included advanced study in Gestalt-informed and relational approaches to care.
With 37 years of professional experience, Dr. Shaun-Adrián Choflá's work has spanned early intervention, undergraduate and graduate teaching in lifespan development, support for adults living with dementia, and educational work with learners across all ages. His career has consistently focused on how individuals and families adapt across developmental stages and under long-term stress.
Drawing on his background in lifespan development and systems work, Dr. Shaun-Adrián Choflá's graduate training and scholarship are grounded in a Gestalt orientation and informed by humanistic perspectives. He is interested in how individuals and families find capacity for growth when given space for awareness, clarity, and meaningful contact. His academic and training interests span the full developmental arc, with particular attention to how relationships shift across life stages and how families adapt to change.
Dr. Shaun-Adrián Choflá enjoys cooking Korean food, gardening, and learning new skills through hands-on home projects.
Dr. Shaun-Adrián Choflá will join the Empathy Therapy clinical team as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist following registration with the California Board of Behavioral Science.
