About Us

Who We Are

Empathy Therapy is a private telehealth psychiatry practice founded in 2011 by Dr. Mark Chofla, DO. We serve patients across California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Florida, Alaska, and New York, entirely online, from your first appointment forward.

There is no office to travel to. No waiting room. You meet with Dr. Chofla from wherever you are.

What We Do

Dr. Chofla is a board-certified psychiatrist and psychotherapist. That means a single provider handles your full picture: psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and therapy, without referrals, handoffs, or fragmented care.

Most patients come to us managing conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and related concerns. Some need medication. Some need talk therapy. Most need both. Dr. Chofla determines what fits and builds the plan around you.

How the Practice Works

Empathy Therapy is private-pay. We do not bill insurance. That is a deliberate choice. It keeps Dr. Chofla's time focused on your care rather than on prior authorizations and insurance constraints.

New patient appointments are $500. Return visits are $350. There are no hidden fees, no subscription structures, and no minimum commitment.

Appointments are booked online at empathytherapy.com. No phone intake required.

Why Telehealth?

Dr. Chofla built this practice around telehealth before it was common. We serve patients across seven states, from major metros to rural communities, and the quality of care is the same regardless of where you are located.

The practice is intentionally small. Dr. Chofla sees every patient personally. There are no associates, no mid-levels, and no one else in the room. If you are a patient here, you have a relationship with the physician, not the practice.

Is This the Right Fit?

Empathy Therapy works well for people who want a consistent relationship with a single, experienced provider and are able to pay out of pocket. It is not the right fit for patients who require in-person care, hospitalization-level support, or insurance billing.
